SMP Hawaii conducted its 2021 Recognition and Training Event with an Olympic theme – and an Olympian.
SMP Hawaii paid tribute to its volunteers and provided training on July 7 from the following guest speakers: Delilah Vinson, J.D., of the Federal Trade Commission – Western Region Los Angeles Office, Richard ‘Sonny’ Tanabe, a Hawaii Olympian with stories that speak to resilience, perseverance and integrity, and Primo Castro, Jr., an award-winning and beloved engager-inspirer who reminded participants about making the right connection with the individual and the group.
They came to pay tribute to SMP Hawaii Volunteers because they know the value of Volunteering and the impact it has had on their lives. Their sharing of knowledge, experiences and wisdom are demonstrations of paying their life’s blessings forward and a reminder that life must be lived.
A group of 41 attendees, including Marissa Whitehouse, SMP Program Manager – Office of Healthcare Information and Counseling, Administration for Community Living of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; news media veterans Ron Mizutani of PBS Hawaii and Ann Miller and others, joined in the recognition and training event.
