Fraud costs Medicare an estimated $60 billion per year, impacting beneficiaries with time, stress, and potential health risks. Families, friends, and caregivers also suffer as they help their loved ones recover from falling victim to Medicare fraud. This is where the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) Hawaii steps in.
SMP is a federally-funded, volunteer-based program managed by the Hawaii State Department of Health. Our mission is to “empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse through counseling, outreach, and education.” Join SMP Hawaii during Medicare Fraud Prevention Week, June 3-9, for daily tips on preventing fraud and helping others do the same.
