Hawaii joined the nation with honoring model older citizens in May with the theme “Communities of Strength,” led by the U.S. Administration for Community Living. Governor David Ige, along with the four county mayors and others, recognized SMP Hawaii Volunteer Hugh Nash Keel, who also volunteers with the state’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) and seven other active residents for their outstanding contributions to our community, personifying the contributions of Older Americans continue to make well into retirement as caring, productive and influential members of our larger society. Nash infuses SMP Hawaii with skills, tact, modesty and professionalism in his roles as presenter, counselor, community-builder.
